Following the successful collaboration and delivery of Phase 1 of the Carroll Road Landfill rehabilitation project, Cleanaway Solid Waste (Cleanaway) engaged Senversa to assist in the rehabilitation of Phase 2 of the works.

Senversa’s role during the rehabilitation works included the Environmental Auditor and full-time Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) Inspector and Geotechnical Inspection and Testing Authority (GITA). Throughout the project, various challenges were identified within the works in which Senversa worked alongside the wider rehabilitation project team to identify various design solutions that maintained the intent of the capping system.

This project was one of the 4 major rehabilitation works undertaken by Cleanaway in the southeast metropolitan area with an approximate area of 100,000 m2. The auditing and inspection works included assessment of a significant number of soil sources (> 50) for compliance with the ‘Fill’ criteria as outlined in EPA waste classification guidance (EPA Publication 1828.2 and IWRG 702) and over approximately 400 rolls of each geosynthetic layer included in the cap profile.

Senversa demonstrated ample technical knowledge and experience in all areas of landfill engineering that allowed for non-conformances and/or variations from the Design Documents to be addressed in an efficient and effective manner, avoiding unnecessary delays and achieving all necessary outcomes from the EPA
