Overview

Senversa has supported Water Corporation through a series of targeted investigations to inform licence amendments and upgrades, focusing on discharge of treated wastewater to surface water channels.

Challenge

The project required a defensible understanding of complex surface water–groundwater interactions and contaminant behaviour, alongside robust evidence to support regulatory approvals. This included integrating hydrogeology, tracer studies, and predictive modelling under challenging logistical conditions.

Outcome

We delivered a comprehensive environmental risk assessment supported by a hydrological CSM, targeted field investigations, tracer-based surface water studies, and scenario-based modelling. In parallel, we implemented ongoing licence compliance monitoring and streamlined annual reporting aligned with regulatory requirements.

Impact

Our work provided clear evidence to support licensing decisions and evaluate upgrade scenarios, while establishing a reliable monitoring framework. This enabled confident environmental management of discharges and demonstrated ongoing compliance in a complex and sensitive receiving environment.
