Senversa’s Geotechnical Engineering Team

October 2018

Senversa can provide fully-integrated solutions in the areas of geotechnical engineering and hydrogeological services.  Senversa supports a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineering team in its Melbourne office comprising over 20 staff across Geotechnical Engineering and Design, Pavement Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology and Geotechnical Construction Services. Consistent with our existing practices in soil and groundwater contamination and solid waste management, we have built a team capable of providing quality advice and “fit-for-purpose” services.

In the past few months, the Geotechnical team has already delivered:

  • Two major pipeline projects in NSW and northern Victoria
  • Pavement and wetland investigations for a number of sub-divisions
  • Level Crossing removal projects
  • Large multi-storey buildings with and without basements
  • Large sporting complexes
  • Due diligence assessment for major industrial estates
  • Assessment of developments for backfilled quarries, and
  • Stabilisation of failed cliff faces

The team continues to deliver complex projects with innovative solutions. They will work across the geotechnical and hydrogeological space including conducting investigations, modelling and analysis for multi-storey buildings, roads, bridges, marinas, pipelines, wetlands, dams, levies, tanks, landfills, wastewater lagoons, landslips, quarries and sub-divisions. By offering an integrated approach on complex projects across geotechnical, environmental and hydrogeological issues, we are able to offer coherent solutions that are sustainable, environmentally conscious, and versatile.

Mount Martha North Beach Geotechnical Assessment

July 2018

Mount Martha North Beach has been a favourite of many families living in the area for generations. In recent years, there has been movement of the sand from the beach, erosion of the toe of the cliff and subsequent instability of the cliff face. Late last year, following community concerns, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) and Mornington Peninsula Shire Council (MPSC) conducted a community meeting to present the assessment undertaken by coastal engineers, Water Technology in 2017. The research highlighted issues about the environmental impacts affecting Mount Martha North and the region around Balcombe Creek more broadly.

Senversa was engaged by the DELWP to undertake a geotechnical assessment of the cliff at Mount Martha North and prepare engineering designs for construction of the rock revetment to protect the toe of the cliff and reduce the cliff movements in collaboration with AW Maritime. For more information on the project, please contact John Piper at Senversa’s Melbourne office.

Senversa welcomes John Piper

February 2018

Senversa is both excited and proud to welcome John Piper as a Senior Principal based in our Melbourne office.

John is an EPA Site Auditor (Contaminated Land) and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia. John has more than 35 years’ experience in geotechnical and environmental engineering and is a registered civil engineer with the Victorian Building Practitioners Board, and in Queensland.

As an EPA Site Auditor for more than a decade, John has audited a wide variety of sites including landfills and contaminated sites. Due to John’s wide experience in all types of geotechnical engineering and environmental assessments, he is often sought to lead multi – discipline projects. John has completed geotechnical investigations for major buildings with multiple basements, wastewater treatment plants, major pipelines, landfills, dams, roads and slope stability assessments and is sought out as an expert in these areas

Senversa is hugely excited about the wealth of experience that John will bring to Senversa, both what he can offer our clients and the mentoring he can provide our colleagues.
